I have a question about Pakistani Food?
I am curious about the food of Pakistan, particularly UNUSUAL foods of Pakistan.
I would like to know if such foods as Turkey, Guinea Fowl, Pheasant and rabbit are eaten in Pakistan.
Another thing: Wild Boar is hunted in Pakistan. Wild Boars are of course pigs, which the muslims in Pakistan won't go near. I would like to know though if the non-muslims in Pakistan and expatriates in Pakistan eat Wild Boar meat?
I am going to tackle this question logically. As far as I know, turkeys, guinea fowls and pheasants (all in the same family) are not eaten in Pakistan nor are they part of their diet mainly because these birds were not available in Pakistan. Turkeys are indigenous to the "New World" and Guinea fowls & pheasants are native to Africa I believe.
Wild Boar is hunted in Pakistan mainly as a "pest" that threatens its wheat, maize, sugarcane....other food supply crops. As a strong Islamic country, I dont think wild boar is available for consumption even for non-Musilims or expats unless it is done illegally through back channels which I honestly dont know anything about.
