what is slumping glass? i was on a art wbsite and saw that they had "glass slumping" classes?
If you heat flat sheets of glass to above 1200F it begins to sag and by controlling the temp and having molds to catch it, you can make many shapes and preserve the pattern in the glass if there is any. It is possible to use drop molds which are just a hole in a ceramic or metal material and let the glass drop until it flattens on a ceramic shelf, then cool to get a vase shape. Much slumping is done into prepared molds to make bowls, etc.
If glass pieces are cut and assembled, they can be fused at higher temperatures and then that sheet can be slumped to put the pattern into a bowl or plate.
